Step aboard the Amel Super Maramu 2000 and you will quickly understand why Cruising World magazine voted it the “2000 Boat of the Year”. Described by the judges as stately as a small ship and an exceptional feat of engineering, this sea going craft which is meticulously finished from stem to stern, is truly in a class by itself.

Built to the very highest level of French Maritime Marine standards, the solid laminate fiberglass hull was molded from a single piece. Other features include keel and skag with four bulkheads and fiberglass laminated deck with balsa core.

Magnificent!

Both above and below the water line, the Amel is leak proof. During construction, the deck is placed on the hull while the hull is still in the mold. The two sections are joined through a process of fiberglassing. This insures an absolutely hermetic, leak proof seal. Traditionally, the stantions (upright poles), are an annoying source of leaks. But this problem has been solved through a special technique of bolting them through and above the deck. Another common discomfort, the smell of fuel or oil has been completely alleviated in the living quarters below the deck because the engine room is thoroughly separated from the rest of the boat. All the wet lockers drain through hoses to the main bilge in the engine room which prevents any bilge odor in the living quarters..

The Amel Super Maramu 53 is really a great deal. Given the fact that it is ready to sail as is – equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable and safe cruise, the S.M. is a difficult deal to beat.
